Known for its iconic dome and stately columns, the Wyoming State Capitol is a beautifully historic building located in the heart of Cheyenne. The capitol building was completed in 1890 and has been serving the state of Wyoming for over a century. Today, it has recently claimed a restoration and welcomes visitors to explore its grandeur.

After Cheyenne sprouted up as a little settlement in 1867, just a few short years later, the Transcontinental Railroad plowed through the quaint village and it spiked a huge growth in the city.

Construction began on establishing a capitol for Wyoming while it was still a territory in 1886. It’s completion in 1890 established a sense of permanency in the state while encouraging people to move to the recently settled region.

Over the past century, the building has been remodeled and renovated to meet the needs of the state of Wyoming.
