Café du Monde has been serving up beignets and Coffee Au Lait since 1862. In fact, the original restaurant still stands! Since the founding of the café, it is became a New Orleans tradition and spread to several locations around Louisiana!

French for “Café of the World” Café du Monde features some amazing French-style coffee and desserts. Café du Monde has over 160 years in operation which has seen the growth of the café expand to multiple locations. It has even been featured in a variety of films and novels.

In case you are wondering what a beignet is, it is a French-style donut coated in powdered sugar.

Also, Coffee Au Lait is a hot coffee served with a mixture of steamed milk.

There are several Café du Monde locations around New Orleans and the surrounding area. One of the main locations is located at 800 Decatur Street near Jackson Square.
